601 Embarcadero
Morro Bay, CA 93442
(805) 772-8388 [map]
Price: $10

Small PotatoesSongwriters at Play presents folk festival favorites Small Potatoes, the Chicago-area duo of Jacquie Manning and Rich Prezioso. As one reviewer notes, “Behind the humble name hides a creative couple of singer-songwriters who know a thing or two about keeping a crowd laughing, smiling, and occasionally crying.” http://www.smallpotatoesmusic.com/

After 25 years, a million and a half miles and 3500 shows, Small Potatoes have become a “favorite act” by many coffeehouses, clubs and house concerts across the U.S. They have made repeat appearances at major folk festivals, including the Kerrville Folk Festival, the Walnut Valley Festival, and the Philadelphia Folk Festival.

Here's a video sample: https://youtu.be/LfK-wJSdrA0

From the start, they’ve called themselves eclecto-maniacs and described their music as “Celtic to Cowboy”. They say it has taken them “years of careful indecision” to come up with a mix of music that ranges from country, blues, and swing to Irish, with songwriting that touches on all of those styles and more. Their four recordings, Alive!, Waltz of the Wallflowers, Time Flies and Raw demonstrate that “indecision” can be wonderfully entertaining. They both sing, they both play guitars and an array of other instruments. They even yodel.

Phil Lee is, according to Glen Starkey of New Times, "a wiry little knife thrower and dog lover who unleashes a caustic barrage of his by turns hilarious and poignant songs." Another writer says, "Brash and literate and full of one-liners. He’s like the love child of Bob Dylan and Joan Rivers.” Native of North Carolina, longtime Nashvillian, Phil Lee spent a couple of decades playing drums, driving trucks, dumping motorcycles, hauling equipment, stealing hearts, eluding the authorities and raising Cain. Then he recorded several albums and toured the world. More at http://www.philleeone.com/

A Grammy-nominated producer, the front man of the acclaimed roots-rock band Last Train Home, half of a duo with songsmith Peter Cooper, and founder of East Nashville indie label Red Beet Records, Eric Brace is a prolific and admired artist. A former music journalist for the Washington Post, Brace relocated to Nashville in 2003 for a full-time musical life. With Last Train Home, he has released eight records and one live concert DVD. After moving to Nashville, Brace began touring and recording with duo partner Peter Cooper, and the pair has three much-lauded albums to their credit. You Don’t Have To Like Them Both (2008) was a #1 album on the Freeform American Roots Chart, Top Five on the Folk Chart, and Top Ten on the Americana chart. Lydia LuceNashville musician Lydia Luce celebrates her debut full-length album, "Azalea". Luce, the daughter of an organist and pianist (and her brother is a cellist), combines her classical training with Americana and folk influences on the new album. Luce grew up in South Florida, where her mother conducted her own symphony orchestra. For Luce, her instrument of choice was viola; later adding guitar to her set of prodigious talents. By age 13 she was performing with her mother’s orchestra, Ars Flores. She studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, and earned a master’s degree in viola performance from University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). Her first EP, The Tides, landed in 2015. She followed that debut with a finish as finalist in the 2016 Rocky Mountain Folk Fest songwriting competition and hit the road as a fiddle player for Sam Outlaw. In 2017, Luce performed at Merlefest and AmericanaFest, as well touring as an opening artist for singer-songwriter Peter Bradley Adams. https://www.lydialuce.com/

Fox & BonesFox and Bones celebrates the release of their sophomore album, "Better Land". Fox and Bones are the modern day Bonnie and Clyde, if Bonnie and Clyde had driven a Volvo and played folk-pop music.

Based in Portland, OR, these internationally touring sweethearts aren't your average duo. Rather than simply documenting their experiences in song, Sarah Vitort and Scott Gilmore write from the perspective of quasi-fictional characters. There’s Fox, a down-and-out it girl, and Bones, a rootless orphan bad boy with a heart of gold. The two fall for each other, decide to hit the road, and never look back. The characters, as well as their real-life counterparts, use music as the canvas on which they paint a new life together that defies traditional relationship roles and life goals. Their music is ripe with vocal harmonies that pull at the heartstrings and a complex, at times metaphysical, lyrical landscape. Each element serves their stories of a life lived on the road, in pursuit of a dream that most never have the courage to chase. Live, they give audiences a peek into their world and challenge them to believe in life, adventure, and modern love. https://foxandbones.com/
